“Alertness is the hidden discipline of familiarity” — David Whyte
While I work in several healing modalities, my main focus is meditation as a tool of overall wellness, supplemented with yoga, Reiki, and sound practices. I do not promise you silver bullets or miraculous overnight transformations. What I offer is practical, tangible, simple practices through which you can begin to experience incremental change and healing in your life almost as soon as you begin. The change, healing and transformation will deepen to the extent that you continue and commit to your practice.
Are you an analytical type with a mind that is busy all the time? - Me too, and meditation has changed my life, though my mind is no less busy! Do you have so many commitments that you don’t feel like you can ever stop or make time for self-care, though you badly need some? Are you facing health or other challenges that you really can’t control, and very much wishing things were different? Are you feeling overwhelmed because you’re in the middle of this global pandemic, and nothing feels normal? Are you looking at the world anxiously, reflecting with pain on all the division and strife? — Me too, and from personal experience, I know that meditation brings an answer to all of these challenges. Getting started is as simple as this: if you can sit and you can breathe, you can meditate.
I am a mathematically trained social scientist with a built-in “never good enough” inner voice, so yes, I have an analytical and busy mind. The personal challenges I have faced and am facing, and the global ones that we’re all facing right now, have caused me anxiety and fear, sometimes despair, and very often a clear understanding of a lack of control. From personal experience, I also know that digging into the meditation practice is what allows me to stay grounded, and generally well, no matter what’s going on around me. It is a gift that I want to share with you.
Meditation is a process by which you get to know your whole self, especially the parts that you usually don’t have time for. It is a gift that you give to yourself and then to all those around you. Meditation is self-care, and a form of healing that the world desperately needs. As you learn to meditate, you work with yourself to discover a rich inner world that you grow to love, and you become a healing presence for yourself and the world.
I am a Yoga Alliance-certified advanced experienced yoga and meditation teacher (RYT-500, ERYT-200, YACEP), a certified yoga for cancer recovery teacher, a Level-II Reiki practitioner, and a sound healer. I have taught hundreds of students since 2004, both adults and kids, in group and private sessions, in settings ranging from studios to hospitals. I volunteer as a yoga teacher at Rady Children’s Hospital’s Oncology department. When COVID passes us and we can get together in person again, I look forward to resuming group meditation and sound meditation sessions, and doing hands-on healing work with you. In the meantime, I have many online offerings that I have created in order to serve and support you during this challenging time. Take a look around, and feel free to get in touch!
